The Kings of Come Back

Photobucket

Last night's comeback in game 5 of the ALCS was one for the ages. Just when i thought it was over, the Red Sox finally showed up. I would like to thank Chad and Pablo for keeping my hopes up and also shorty for the " I just got out of work what's the score" call. It was the fifth inning when he called, he knew the damn score. Last night's game wasn't filled with much excitement until the 7th inning. Up until then the Rays already had homered 3 times inlcuding ones from Bj Upton and Evan Longoria. I guess the 7th inning stretch really helped out the sox because their bats finally came alive. Justin Pedroia had an RBI single only to be followed by a 3-run shot by Big Papi..... Then in the 8th, JD drew hit a two run home run and Coco Crisp had a long battle at the plate, that he would win by hitting in the game tying run. Finally the 9th, Evan Longoria would field a ground ball by Youkilis and throw the easy out down the first base line, in to the stands (he is human). Youk would move to second and the Rays would intentionally walk Jay Bay. That would bring up JD Drew, who would ultimatley hit the game winning RBI single. It was one of the best baseball games i have ever seen. My faith is restored..... Sox in 7......

My "Man Day" is Sunday!

Photobucket

Typically i spend my Sunday's rolling around in a desk chair at Rick's house sweating out my survivor pick. But this Sunday there is some uncertainty. Rick is moving so I don't really know where the games will be watched. I assume my (smart, college graduate ) friend will do the right thing and move on a week day. Its not like he's going to miss the Yankees playing next week or something. Seriously, I mean where else am i going to get to spend my time drinking, swearing, and making short jokes on Sunday's. So my advice to Rick is be like Spike Lee and "Do the Right Thing" move during the week.

With that being said, Sunday is fast approaching. So I figured i would give my two cents on the NFL this weekend. Since my high flying Eagles are on bye this week, my only job is to root for my survivor pick (Tampa Bay Bucs) and whoever is playing the Dolphins and the Bears ( courtesy of Chad, Paul, and the occasional Shorty). I do look forward to seeing the pacman-less Cowboys line up with their latest addition, Roy E. Williams. This should make them a lot tougher to beat. Even though they should have picked up a DB or safety, their high powered offense should score plenty of points where the defense really just has to show up to games. Even if Romo plays with his torn labia, I see the Boys routing the no longer winless Rams....

San Diego at Buffalo- With Trent Edwards probably sitting out, look for JP Losman to air it out against the Chargers.

New Orleans at Carolina - With Carolina getting spanked last week, i look for them to bounce back against the Saints.

Minnesota at Chicago - After squib kicking the ball and then giving up a 24 yrd pass with 6 secs left last week, I expect the bears to contain AP and hold off the Vikes.

Pittsburgh at Cincinnati - Look for Big Ben to do his thing against a Palmer-less, defensive-less Bengals.

Tennesse at Kansas City -Tennesse will continue their winning ways, while Jeff Fisher laughs at the Cowboys for signing the Alcoholic pacman.

Baltimore at Miami - I expect the Ravens to put pressure on the soft touch of Chad Pennington. The fins might want to keep Ronnie brown at QB permantely.

San Francisco ay NY Giants - Eli will bounce back from Monday nights performance to put a choke hold on the young niners.

Detroit at Houston - I think the local Pee Wee team will have a shot a beating either of these teams. I hope Orlovsky can stay away from the white lines...... Houston by a FG.

Indianapolis at Green Bay - Are the old Colts really back? I don't see A-rod being able to put up enough points against the resurging Colts.

Ny Jets at Oakland - Farve will throw 4 tds and 2 picks in an easy win for the Jets. Who probably has the easiest schedule for the next 4-5 games.

Cleveland at Washington - Should be a good game. I expect D. Anderson to start playing like he is capable of. The skins are still sore from last Sunday's gane against the winless Rams.

Seattle at Tampa bay - Why I seriously regret rooting for any Tampa Bay team. I believe Tampa will rout an injury-plagued Seahawks team. Therefore, I can continue my successful run in the Survivor pool. Only three people left.........Wish me luck!

Will the Red Sox pull off another great comeback?

Photobucket

As a Red Sox fan, I have been finding it very difficult to watch the 2008 ALCS. Ever since the incredible come back in 2004, I have always maintained a sudden faith in the Red Sox when trailing in a series. But this year it feels different. Without Mike L. in the line up and Papi, Varitek, and Ellsbury batting a combined .023 in the ALCS, I can pretty much say that the series is a wrap..... Hopefully the Sox can squeek a win out at home so history isn't made at Fenway. I'll tell you this, if Evan Longoria or Doug E Fresh( Bj Upton) hits another home run tonight, i will find myself changing the channel to watch McDreamy win over the heart of some young intern......

Surfing the Web at work

This will be my first post, so please bear with me (thanks mom).

As we all know, perusing the internet at work is a daily luxury most of seem to enjoy. I'd say personally I am surfing the internet at least half of my scheduled work day. I always wondered if all of the other "professionals" around me are doing the same. They always seems so busy on the phone complaining about work, while I'm sitting there reading why Guy Richie and Maddona are getting divorced. So I have decided to do a study case at work. I've decided to leave my Corner office (two cubicles together) a little less quietly (like a ninja) because I know when I hear the pitter-patter of feet heading towards me, I scramble to minimize whatever it is I am looking at. 90% of the time I minimize the window unscaved... Occasionally, you have the quick footed anti-surfer that creeps up on you before you can hide your fantasy football standings. So then, you try to make full eye contact with them the whole time, praying they aren't going to look at your screen. Deep down inside you know they saw it...Since I began my case study, I have noticed that everyone is surfing the internet. When people don't know that your coming, it makes a big difference in minimizing tactics. There are several different techniques people use when its time to minimize. I noticed a lot of peeking over the top of the cubicle walls just enough so you can only see their eyes. (I guess they forgot about the rest of their head). The "go to" move is turning your head slightly and peeking over the shoulder. Which are moves that I use on a daily basis. My favorite was when someone at work clicked on the tab that had our company website. But my 20/20 peeped the coach bags be for she could tab over...Needless to say, my case study has proven that everyone is surfing the internet and just when you think you minimized fast enough, you didn't.......
